No Time For Fun

Dear Molly,

There are so many things I want to do, but I just don’t have the time or the money.  How can I have fun when I’m so busy at work?

– Frustrated in Florida

Dear Frustrated in Florida,

Let go a little bit of all the responsibility you are feeling.  Don’t make it harder on yourself than it already is.

You decide your schedule, don’t you?  Or are you letting someone else run your life?  How about starting with a day off – just one? The world won’t fall apart while you’re gone.  Can you think of something you’d like to do on your day off?  It’s important that you get used to the idea of doing something nice for yourself.  Start there.

As for money, it doesn’t have to be expensive.  I play all the time, and it doesn’t cost me anything.  Be creative – and let me know how it goes!

Have fun!!

Get a ‘real’ job!

Dear Molly,

I am lost.  I just quit my job, and I don’t know what to do.  I’ve always wanted to be a painter, but everyone keeps telling me I should get a ‘real’ job – that I can’t make a living as a painter.  Maybe they’re right.  What do you think?

– Lost in Louisiana

Dear Lost in Louisiana,

If you really want to paint – then you should paint.  What other people have to say about it doesn’t matter.  What matters is that you do what you love.  Can you imagine if you waited your whole life and looked back to see you didn’t follow your heart?  How would you feel knowing you did what everyone else wanted you to do – instead of what you wanted to do?

Don’t let that happen.  Pick up your paintbrush and start painting – today.  It can be a real job, but you have to believe it for yourself.  Let yourself get lost in your painting for awhile.  I think you might find yourself there.

Have fun!
